It has been snowing here all week and the other morning when Steve was leaving for work, he told us that the snow was perfect for making snow balls, so we immediately got on board with the idea of going outside to build a snowman. We have had dry snow all winter that wouldn't pack, so we were looking forward to the opportunity.
We got outside and started our work. I haven't built a snowman for a long time, so I wasn't really thinking outside of the box. I was just enjoying packing the snow and seeing a formation beginning to rise up out of the ground. And then Silas said let's make it pregnant. My first thought was "Oh no! I must be wearing off on him!" But I agreed to go along with it, praying that the neighbors wouldn't think we had totally lost our marbles.

But then, being inspired by this movie that he had watched with Steve the previous night, he took his creation to the next level and said he would like for it to be a pregnant raccoon. Well, this just kept getting more and more interesting. But, I just wasn't visualizing the whole raccoon thing (I didn't watch the movie- I was doing birth art with a pregnant woman). So, after the body was built, I let him go to designing the head alone. He created ears and a snout and all. And do you see the bits of gray snow? He is so resourceful (just like Papa!). He got that from the dirty slush accumulating on the van. I am so proud! -no really, I am in a way that only a mother can be. After all of his hard work, we decided it looked like a bear, but will always be a raccoon at heart.

Anyhow, way to go Silas! We have the coolest snow raccoon bear on the block!
